Very well said and very true! This is Cory the profiled entrepreneur that Bob references from time to time. I'll be the very first person to say it. Taking the role of the technician is very painful and a major time drain.

In fact its such a time drain that many times doing the things I love like creating content and marketing the product lines suffer. I'm so busy just maintaining the code base and working with customers that I have absolutely have no time to work on some of the other aspects of business building that I really enjoy. In fact over the last 2 months I have done nothing but code and it really is a mindset that I have to change.

I have actually asked Bob to help me be accountable over the remainder of the year to break free from the role of technician. My goal from here on out is to stop coding and start delegating. It may mean that the products won't see much movement for a period of time, however I believe overtime once I learn to leverage other technicians I can take the products to a new level.

So as Bob said, I will be making a commitment to pulling myself away from the worker-bee mindset. I'm excited to see where this new mindset will take me...

Agreed. Been looking at code that way for years (even my code, sometimes!). That's why I'm always willing to jump into working on things I've never seen before. And the bigger and badder people have made it sound, the more it intrigues me. "How bad is it really?" I think to myself. It's challenging and fun to unravel someone else's spaghetti. Unless, that is, there is an uncomfortable deadline attached, then it's just stressful.

Yeah I have to agree its really about finding the most convenient method for yourself. Once you get into a fix then you really don't have to worry even tracking anymore. Then you have to start looking at whether or not what your working on is of value.

Cheers!

sometimes it's ok to just have a blank mind, don't you think? when you have the kind of busy life that you do, it's good to occasionally just let your mind be clear and enjoy the moment. i understand that it's a balance, certainly, but try to build at least a few mindless moments into your day to relax and enjoy ;)
